Student Affairs
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of the office is to oversee all the non-academic endeavors of the students on and off-campus; the enforcement of discipline and proper decorum among the students; recommendation of appropriate disciplinary action against offenders; and, the processing of scholarship grants and other financial aids given to students. It is also tasked to supervise and coordinate the activities of the AUF-Federation of Alumni Associations (AUF-FAA) and of the different college alumni associations.
2. RESPONSIBILITY
The office is mainly responsible for the following:

Student Activities - which include organization and facilitation of orientation programs and welcome ceremonies for new students; induction ceremonies, general assemblies and elections for mandated and non - mandated organizations; provision of leadership training and exposure to student leaders; supervision of the USC in the planning and execution of various activities; monitoring, supervision and evaluation of student activities held both on and off campus.

Student Organizations - which include the facilitation of the formation of new, and the renewal and recognition of non - mandated organizations; evaluation of the application for the candidacy and student party registration of students running for USC/CSC positions.

Student Scholarships and Awards - which include the processing of all applications for scholarships, grants and financial aids; evaluation of all SNPL applicants; organization of awards and recognition programs for the exemplary achievements of students in co - curricular and extra - curricular undertakings.

Student Discipline - which include the enforcement and monitoring of student discipline in accordance with the contents and provisions of the Student Handbook; creation of the Student Grievance Committee (SGC) for major offenses involving students from different colleges; imposition of proper disciplinary sanctions to student offenders for both minor and major offenses.

Alumni - which include the organization of the annual job fair to provide the alumni and graduating students the opportunity to get jobs; supervision of the AUF - FAA in spearheading alumni programs and activities.

Other OSAA responsibilities - which include the preparation of the university's master plan of activities through the collated plans of action of the different colleges and units.
3. AUTHORITY

Student Activities - the office has control over the approval of student activities both co - curricular and extra - curricular on and off campus. It has the authority to screen, monitor and evaluate student activities to complement classroom experiences as it provides opportunities for social, cultural, political, moral and spiritual growth through wholesome and enriching campus activities.

Student Organizations - the office approves the formation, renewal and recognition of mandated and non - mandated organizations; approves and recommends the formation of application for party registration and certification of candidacy of students seeking electoral posts in the USC and CSC.

Student Scholarships - the office implements the policies and guidelines on scholarships, grants and financial aids.

Student Discipline - the office has the authority to issue call slips to student offenders and subject them to sanctions as provided for by the Student Handbook; to form the Student Grievance Committee as part of "due process".

Alumni - the office has the authority to control, monitor and evaulate the disbursement of alumni funds and other activities of the AUF - Federation of Alumni Associations and college alumni associations.
4. INTER - RELATIONSHIPS AND INTRA-RELATIONSHIPS
As the University's "students' desk", the OSAA coordinates with the different deans of colleges and units rendering student personnel services, mandated and non - mandated organizations for the effective and efficient distribution of student services; with AUF - FAA and CAA for continuous communication and better rapport with the alumni; and with companies and other organizations for partnerships and linkages;

Consistent implementation of the rules and conduct on discipline to achieve a more orderly and peaceful academic community.

Proper screening, monitoring and evaluation of all student activities to complement with and enhance the students' academic growth.

Effective leadership skills and good human relations to develop proactive and responsible student leaders imbued with genuine concern to serve their constituents.

Strict adherence to "due process of law" in the conduct of the Student Grievance Committee and in the settlement of cases requiring sense of fairness and justice.

Proactive and consistent implementation of proper decorum to develop and enhance the students' emotional intelligence and personality.
6. PHYSICAL FACILITIES

The office is conveniently located at the ground floor to allow a smooth flow of transactions with the different units/departments and colleges and units and to easily monitor student discipline.

The USC office is accessible to the different CSC officers. The well - equipped student activity centers provide venue for varied activities of the different mandated and non - mandated organizations.
